I recently read a book that completely changed my outlook on parenting (and improved my toddler’s response to training).
I’m just entering the toddler stage, with all the fun and frustration that comes with it. And I’ve been trying to focus a lot on training. I’ve heard a lot of other parents say, “The earlier you train your child, the less you’ll end up giving consequences to your child later.”
But I’ve really struggled with the CONSTANT training. Sometimes I forget my reason why and I just get lazy with consistency.
This book helped me to approach motherhood with more grace, joy, and confidence. It’s not an easy fix or a magic formula, for sure. It doesn’t make motherhood easy. But I’m so glad for the practical help it’s given me.

About the Book and Where to Find It
M is for Mama: A Rebellion Against Mediocre Motherhood by Abbie Halberstadt really helped me to refocus on the why. It helped me see my child in light of the Gospel. I became a little more humble, a little more loving, and a little more joyful in my parenting.
Abbie Halberstadt is one of my favorite people to learn from. She’s a great writer and she’s also very Biblically balanced. But she’s also a mama to 10 children… which, in my opinion, is a super valuable qualification to speak to motherhood.
M is for Mama, as well as Abbie’s other book, Hard Is Not the Same Thing as Bad, are both available on Amazon for under $12. Her second book is on my reading list.
If your local library subscription includes Hoopla or Libby apps, you can get these books on there for free as well! Both of her books are available as ebooks on Hoopla, and both books are also available as ebooks and audiobooks on Libby.
Let me know what your thoughts are when you read these books!
Until next time,
Lynette
